Two big planes and a long ridge is an efficient roof and an easy one to photograph honestly. There is nowhere for a problem to hide, which is worth saying out loud.

Roofs of this age are often laid on plank decking rather than sheet, with gaps between the boards. Plank takes a nail differently, and a tear-off can expose boards that will not hold a fixing at all.

Mid-century ranches often have shallow eaves and limited intake ventilation. Where that is the case it is recorded, because it shortens the life of whatever covering goes on next.
