A clipped hip roof in slate grey on newer tan brick — modern subdivision geometry, with more roof-to-wall transitions than the shape suggests.

The five passes
A roof assessed from one angle is a roof assessed once. These are the passes every Jacob assessment makes, in this order, so that coverage does not depend on how the day is going.

The pass that shows how the roof sits on the building — planes, hips, valleys, and how it meets everything around it.

Straight down. This is the view that makes drainage legible and stops a plane being missed because it was awkward to reach.

What the property actually looks like to a person standing in front of it — the only view most quotes are based on.

Close enough to read the assembly: courses, seams, terminations, penetrations. Findings are photographed at this range with something for scale.
On this roof: a clipped hip where three planes meet, with the ridge cap running across the top of the frame.

Mid-installation, where the parts that end up hidden are still visible. A roof is easiest to judge before it is finished.
What this roof raises
Every property puts its own questions in front of an assessor. These are the ones this system on this kind of house raises — and the same ones we would bring to yours.
Clipped hips and cross-gables give a roof more edges and more transitions than a simple gable. Every one is a place where two materials have to be made to work together, and they are assessed individually.
Newer Frisco subdivisions often sit under HOA design control, which can restrict colour and profile. That is confirmed before a material is recommended, not after.
A roof under about fifteen years old that is already showing granule loss is telling you something about the original installation or the ventilation. Either is worth establishing before a like-for-like replacement is specified.
