Does a leak mean I need a new roof?
Not automatically. The source, roof condition and extent of affected materials determine which options make sense. An assessment is the starting point for that discussion.
Should I get on the roof to take photographs?
No. Stay off wet or damaged roofs. Describe what you can observe safely from inside or the ground. If water is near electrical equipment or there is immediate danger, move away and seek appropriate emergency help.
